Level II fieldwork is measured in weeks, not hours. ACOTE sets 24 weeks full-time for OT and 16 weeks for OTA — there is no ACOTE hours target for students of US-accredited programs. If you have seen 960 hours quoted, that figure belongs to NBCOT's pathway for internationally educated therapists and does not apply to you.

How ACOTE actually counts Level II fieldwork

Weeks, not hours. The standard requires 24 weeks of full-time Level II fieldwork for OT students and 16 weeks for OTA students. Because "full-time" is defined by the fieldwork site rather than nationally, there is no fixed hours equivalent — two students can both complete 24 weeks having worked different total hours.
Part-time is allowed, but the equivalent length still applies. A part-time placement must add up to the same minimum — so 50% time takes roughly twice the calendar weeks.
Level I never counts toward Level II. ACOTE is explicit that Level I fieldwork is not substituted for any part of Level II, and it sets no minimum hours for Level I at all.
There is a cap on settings. Level II may be completed in a maximum of 4 settings (OT) or 3 settings (OTA) — or in a single setting if it reflects more than one practice area.
No national deadline. ACOTE does not set a universal maximum time to finish Level II after your didactic coursework — your program publishes its own. Anyone quoting a blanket "24 months" as an ACOTE rule is mistaken.
OTD students have a capstone on top. The 14-week doctoral capstone experience is separate from, and additional to, the 24 weeks of Level II fieldwork.

Fieldwork complete is not the same as NBCOT eligible

NBCOT does not count your fieldwork weeks. Eligibility comes from graduating from an ACOTE-accredited program, confirmed either by your program director approving a Degree Verification Form or by an official final transcript. So finishing 24 weeks does not by itself make you exam-eligible — your degree requirements, including Level I, Level II and (for OTD students) the capstone, all have to be signed off first.
